Dr. Duncan L. McKellar is an orthopedic surgeon who practices medicine at the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas and one of the largest in the United States, Baylor Scott & White Healthcare.  He also serves as Medical Director of the Joint Wellness Program at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Carrollton.

Dr. McKellar’s general orthopedic surgery practice focuses on primary and revision total joint surgery as well as the treatment of sports injuries and community fractures involving the upper and lower extremity.  His extensive experience in hip and knee joint replacement surgery and osteoporotic fracture care includes extensive experience treating patients with periprosthetic fractures (fractures around total joints). 

Dr. McKellar is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1983 and completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and American Medical Association.

Before joining Baylor Scott & White in 2016, Dr. McKellar practiced orthopedic surgery in Oak Ridge and Clarksville, Tennessee.  Beyond his extensive experience in orthopedic medical practice, he also has served in numerous medical leadership roles including:

  • Gateway Medical Center Clarksville, TN Chief of Staff Elect; Chairman, Leaders for Quality Committee;  Peer Review Committee member; Credentials Committee member; Chief of Surgery; Medical Executive Committee representative Vice Chief of Surgery; Peer Review Committee representative; and Physicians Leadership Group member; 

  • Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, TN Credential Committee; Chair of Joint Center of Excellence;  Chief of Staff;  Vice Chief of Staff; Secretary/Treasurer Medical Staff; Peer Review Committee and Continuous Quality Improvement Committee; and Utilization Review Committee

  • Tennessee Orthopedic Centers Board of Directors, 

Dr. McKellar and his wife are multi-generation native Texans who were sweethearts at Plano High School. Dr. McKellar and his wife returned to Texas to be closer to their parents. They have two sons, one living in Nevada and the other in California. In their spare time, they stay physically fit enjoying adventure travel and recreation with their children, grandchildren and friends.
